About Us

Mary Uyinmwen Osabor, born in the Mid of the 20th century to Late Chief S.U and Comfort Ogunbor, is the founder of the UYIOSA FOUNDATION.

Mary,  a  woman  totally  sold  out  to  purpose,  committed  to  seeing widows and orphans living a life free of hate and rejection. She bears the responsibility of feeding, clothing, housing and training orphans and widows with the help of partners for over a decade.

Her passion was ignited when as a teenager she was left to care for her two weeks old cousin, who lost her mom after a cesarean section. This child was taken to the hostel and after a week authorities caught up with her that she cannot have an infant in the hostel. The baby was taken to Edo orphanage home. On graduation from Nursing School she took the baby from the orphanage and the first birthday was celebrated at Usen in Ovia local Government where Mary worked as a Registered Nurse. Mary also saw nurses care for her late father who was involved in an motor vehicle accident and had lot of broken bones.

Their meticulous care and concern solidified her desire to give back to humanity. Mary decided to be a nurse, and today she is a Registered nurse with over Fourty (40) years’ experience.

Mary has been through hell and high waters, life has bent her over so many times, yet she remains steadfast to her purpose. She learnt to fend for her siblings at a very tender age, she worked her hand’s to her bone, her sweat was for others to hold, her labour was that of love, Mary bore a heart of gold.

Dawn of 1998, Mary was given a mandate by God  to “care for the orphans and widows in affliction”. The ambitious Mary who had other plans didn’t hid the call, but the more she evades the call, the more the voice becomes louder and the poor lady gave in to the mandate of her maker for her life. To this end God re-affirmed to her that “she was the hope for aborted babies in her country Nigeria”, just like the lines of the popular hymn, Mary had to trust and obey her maker.

November 1998, in the company of her friend, Late. Evangelist Vera Thompkins, Mary came back to Nigeria from the United States of America to establish the Uyiosa Foundation. Her hunt for aborted babies began. She searched everywhere for aborted babies, and orphans alike, Mary became their hope, nursed them, housed them, educated them, and above all led them to Christ.

In 2001, Mary who was established in the United States of America, sold everything she had, came back home to Nigeria to care for the orphans and widow’s. Without any external financial assistance Mary will come to the US, work for three (3) months, with all she earns, she returns home to Nigeria to care for the numerous orphan’s in her care, this she has been doing continuously for the past twenty (20) years.

Mary, a doting mother, a compassionate critic, a fiercely loyal friend, an epitome of integrity and simplicity, mother of the orphans, friend to the widows, a succor to the less privileged, is sold out to the welfare of the orphans and widows in Nigeria and Africa at large. She has been on several medical missions to Liberia, Ghana and Uganda, the orients and several countries around the world, all to save an orphaned child.
